Meet Advocate Tosha Wilson, ceo & Founder
Tosha Wilson is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Abigail’s Wish. Tosha is the oldest of her siblings and grew up in a family of advocates. Tosha’s mother had 10 siblings and lost her mother at the age of 14. Therefore, Tosha’s mother was tasked to care for her younger siblings, remaining in the home, often cooking, cleaning, and making certain they were taken care of. As a result, Tosha grew up in a home where cousins, neighbors, and friends were always welcomed. Tosha often thought to herself “are these extra kids or adults ever going to go home?” In time, Tosha discovered herself, to be an advocate as well.
It is Tosha’s ultimate passion, and it gives her great joy being granted the opportunity to help others. Throughout her professional career, Tosha has worked in various capacities, such as financial entities, local government municipalities, non-profit organizations, and state government criminal justice agencies. Overall, Tosha enjoys helping and working with people, but her ultimate passion is advocacy, engaging with youth, and she has a profound love for the criminal justice field.
Formerly, Tosha has served as a volunteer auxiliary probation officer with the Department of Juvenile Justice, as a patient companion with Agape Hospice, as a Guardian Ad Litem, and as a Custody Child Advocate, being a voice for children.
Tosha received a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Winthrop University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice--Public Administration from Liberty University.
In 2004, Tosha moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to fulfill her personal goals of obtaining a social work degree and to enhance her spiritual growth. Tosha serves in a prophetic intercessor role and is a mentor to youth. Tosha has served as a youth advisor, a youth Sunday school/vacation bible schoolteacher, a mentor, a youth leader, a praise dancer, and a praise dance leader.
In her spare time, Tosha enjoys travel, dance, entertainment, community involvement, working with young individuals, and spending time with family. Tosha is married to Douglas A. Wilson, President and Founder of Alexander Wilson Consulting.
The story of Abigail
Who is Abigail? The meaning behind Abigail’s Wish. Abigail is a Hebrew name. Abigail means ADVOCACY. The wish is something to hope for, something to desire, something to MAKE HAPPEN. Another meaning of Abigail is a “Father’s Joy.” Abigail is the daughter that my husband and I long for. Currently, we don’t have any children, but if I had a daughter, I always say that I would name her “Abigail.”
